Pechauer Cues

1. Ebony is expensive
2. Real African Gabon Ebony is hard to get. It is classified as endangered, so really it’s best for all not to use it.
3. Ebony is heavy, it needs to be cored with maple or another light stable wood in order to get it to a decent player’s weight. Might as well just be maple…

Why is it OK to stain maple in other colors but not black?

Okay, thanks for the info. I understand. Why call it Simulated Ebony though? He should just call it like it is. Stained Black, over Maple.

Are no other cue makers using real Ebony, on the under $1k range? I have seen some cheaper cues, maybe from the Philippines, that were made with Ebony. May not have been cored though, like you said is nessesary.

I really do not like stained woods. I like the cues to be all natural.

I do not know, but maybe Veneers have to be stained, in order to get thrur different colors. If that is the case, then I like the Veneers to be stained, if needed, for the various colors.
