Pechauer Pro-H vs OB-122

Hi

After having received help from forum members on the purchase of a new cue I decided to go for a Pechauer Pro-H.
Recently I have been discussing with a friend and he proposed to look on the OB cues on the basis of coming with an OB+ shaft compared to the Pechauer maple and the fact that the OB joint is more common than the Pechauer Pro flat faced of the Pro-H. I don't care for looks/design of the cue.The Pro-H is a wood to wood no collar while OB has an implex collar.

I have no way to test any of the two cues since I have no access to any of them. The price difference is 100 euros so do you think that the OB "advantages" justify the cost? What about build quality comparison? I would be grateful to read your opinions if you have played with both or one of them, especially the OB-122, since I have already received feedback on the Pechauer.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Pechauer is a great company that makes a very high quality cue. One difference between the 2 you mention is the joint. Pechauer uses a piloted joint into a steel insert in the shaft so it will have a firmer feel to it when you stroke the cue ball. OB uses a 3/8x10 wood to wood joint so it will be solid but have a more cushioned feel. I had a Pechauer and haven't played with an OB but my playing cues now (McDermott and Lucasi) all have 3/8x10 joints because I prefer the softer feel. Just my opinion, everyone's different.

I had a Pro H Pechauer and I wish I never sold it. I really liked it's wood joint compared to the normal Pechauer steel joint. I also prefer solid maple shafts to LD shafts, that being said, Pechauer LD shaft is an excellent option that I would put against an OB shaft any day of the week. I do like a 3/8x10 joint more though, but it's not a deal breaker.

EDIT: If you order from Pechauer, you can get that cue with a LD shaft for still less than the OB. I also think you can change the stain colors at no extra cost and possibly get them to put in a 3/8x10 pin...Pechauer all day over the OB...
