As you can see, I used a "little" heat to remove the old system which was thread into the forearm. I cored into it and plugged it with a new piece of maple. Then, the new tenon was turned and threaded for the steel collar. Peer wanted steel as opposed to the old aluminum.
Once the collars were in place, I installed the new pin before turning the collars to size. The next step was to turn the collars by centering off of the pin. The last pic is the collar polished and completed.
The cue had some water damage and the finish was cracking just due to age. Since I'm a really nice guy, , I removed the old finish and made it look pretty again.
