This will affect business no matter how we look at it. Business will build up from the effects of this as well. the cost of smoke eaters and cleaning of smoke residue from the walls, ceilings, felt, billiard balls and many other things will be eliminated. We all knew this was coming whether we chose smoke or not.

The exemption that were given to the revenue centers in the state was wrong and understandable with the current Governor who is obsessed with money, between selling the turnpike & the tolling of I-80. It would be nice if those revenue centers (slot-parlors/casinos) would give a lot more back to the community and other business. But right know they just build large buildings and fill them with machines and make it look nice and pretty. A convention center and hotel to hold some billiard events would be wonderful and the standard recreational events too, that we find in other states' casinos.

Businesses will hurt or close because of NO SMOKING. Like they did in AZ.

No doubt about it!

The State of WA passed a smoking ban a couple years ago here.....we lost about 20% to 30% of our regular traffic

It's been a hard go but, luckily our food business has picked up and we are still here

Changing times = Changing with the times. Best of luck to everyone -- it's not easy!

Part of business is changing with the times. It gets harder as you get older. You get fed up with gov't regulations etc. Think of all the places that had to change the bathrooms and widen their hallways and add ramps when the ADA regulations went into effect. Lots of businesses closed during that time too. I wonder how many blamed it on the ADA? I am sure some did. We had to completely rebuild part of our storage area and put in a fire escape about 15 years ago to comply with fire codes. Cost us about $15,000 and we did it on the cheap. If I could not afford to do it I could have complained about how the fire department put us out of business? Everyone points to smoking bans and all the troubles they cause. Truth is....smoking bans are ONE law. There are hundred of laws that have to be followed and dealt with every day. One law rarely puts a business under. Inability to change with the times will ALWAYS put you out of business. :clapping:
