I had personally watched Paul string an awful lot of racks together in ring games thru the years. As far as 21 racks, I would say that it is probably true, but accomplished on a valley bar table. I will tell you a story about Paul I know is true. I heard one night that Paul was to play the ghost in Marion, In. for $500 10 ahead. Supposed to start at 6pm. I left Muncie and arrived at the bar around 6:45pm and Paul had already got the money and left. After he got the money, he told Jr. Brown "last time I did this it took me an hour to win but I didn't get ball in hand after the break." Guess my friends in Marion made a bad bet.
My wife moved in with me in 1988 and did not have much knowledge of pool. After taking her to pro events and lots of small tournaments she had seen some of the greatest players in the world. Around 1994 during a conversation with another pool player about kicking at balls my wife jumped in and said " Peru Paul kicks in more balls than anyone that plays, gets shape and runs out." She was right, he would not only hit the ball, but would pocket a lot of balls even on a 2, 3, or 4 rail kicks. He was dangerous from everywhere on the table. The best time to play him was the first match of the day, and hope you didn't meet again til the next morning. Sam
