Phenolic tip removal

Hi, i'd like to know if it's possible to get a phenolic tip removed as people do to a regular leather tip w/ a tool like a cutting knife?

if you plan doing it yourself I suppose you'd get better with a file rather than a knife. And pretty rough file I would say.
The only way to have the job done properly is on a lathe. At least the facing part. Phenolic is very hard.

If you are talking about a one piece ferrule with rounded tip have any cue repair person cut the rounded tip off. Then glue whatever leather tip you like to the phenolic ferrule. You won't cut Phenolic well with ordinary tools. A lathe with a carbide tipped lathe bit it the right tool for the job.
