phenolic vs implex joints?

What's the difference?

In my experience, any joint that is not Stainless or brass or wood to wood is called Implex (loosly meaning some type of "plastic"). Phenolic is a particular type of plastic. So the two terms are interchangeable sort of. Some plastic joints are called implex when they are not linen base phenolic (Bacolite?), but the terms are commonly interchanged anyway.

Ok, here is the difference:
Implex: A cheaper (than most) soft, flexible plastic, used by Meucci, Players, Action Etc.
Linen Based Phenolic: A more expensive, hard, rigid, wound linen reinforced with phenolic resin, resistant to heat/cold expansion/contraction, and very durable, used by McDermott etc. (Can’t think of anymore off of the top of my head),
And another one,
Cyro (duralite): Used by Joss for butt caps, and Pechauer for Some joints and butt caps...

Thanks

Jon

IMHO, they are not (should not) be interchangeable terms...
