"Ping" vs "muffled" cues

Not sure if i used the correct term, but is there a performance advantage between these two type of "hits"

for those unfamiliar

Ping... yes it does sort of "ping" when you hit the CB
muffled.. well i guess you know after reading the ping explanation

It is all about what you prefer.
 
I've had more ivory ferruled cues that went "ping". I enjoyed them. I have some large pin, flat faced, wood to wood cues now that mainly have melamine ferrules. They have the solid, muffled type, hit. Resonant and full of feedback. I THINK you could describe it as a soft hit. Kind of a thunk. I like that too. For me, whatever feels like it transmits the vibration just right into my hand on the handle, and has the balance, weight, and the taper that I prefer has it all. Right now that's a sneaky by Darrin Hill. Best I've ever felt...Tom
