Headin to VF and was thinking about camping around Pittsburgh on Friday eve. What's the best room around?
Also will plan to go a little further east that nite. Any accomodation recommendations along the TP?
Thanks

The best room in Pittsburgh, or anywhere close to here is Breaker's in Dormont. The room is owned by Paul Mottey and has very well taken care of diamond pro's and gold crowns. There is usually good action and a Friday night tournament. Most of the better players will be leaving Wed. for Valley Forge, so it will probably be a little dead.

This is true. Breaker's on Potomac Ave. in Dormont is a great room. Dormont is only a few minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and is only a couple of blocks down from the Dormont "T" stop as well.

Other Good rooms in the area include the following:
- South Hills Golden Cue - Bridgeville (South of Pgh)
- Cue & Cushion - Brentwood (10 minutes down the road from Breakers)

Rooms to avoid if you like equipment in good shape:
- Shootz Cafe - Southside
- Chalky's - North Hills
- Carson St. Pool & Pub - Greentree (very close to downtown)

Hey Pool or Trizzat! Where on Potomac is Breaker's? Are either of you old enough to remember either Nick's or Kelly's? This was in the '50's/60's. Nick's was a poolroom and hat cleaning joint on West Liberty across from the old trolley stop where Banksville feeds up into W. Liberty. Kelly's was originally on Potomac across and down the street from the moviehouse. Later he moved across W. Liberty downstairs where he had pool tables and 2 duck pin bowling lanes. Downtown at McCann's was the main action in those days though.
