Placebo effect

Have you ever tried something new or different and gotten a positive result in your game? Only to have it not work so well a day or two later? Was it the placebo effect or were you on to something, but failed to ingrain it into your shooting process?

It could be psychological or it might be the real deal. Time usually tells all. A new cue, tip, piece of chalk, aiming system, or PSR may work and then fall apart. What if you could harness this effect and make it yours every time you played without changing anything or adding something?

Best,
Mike

If we could harness each different effect we attempt without effort, the game would be boring. Every little tid bit you add to your arsenal is like a coveted, golden nugget. The better you get, the more rare these new improvements become. I dont see these improvements through new equipment so much, those are minor. I get more satisfaction when I start making shots I couldnt make before. And that never happens quickly for most of us, you gotta earn it every step of the way.

I know what your talking about, sometimes just going somewhere new to play will have you playing a ball better, then you go back to your poolroom and you go back to your usual self.

Sometime just breaking in a different spot may bring on this new found phenomena, and like you said, a new tip, cloth, or new cue, maybe a song triggers the brain to put out some endorphins that may bring it on for awhile.

I try alittle different stroke somedays and it works great, but the next time I go to play I forget about it, and it may be days or weeks go by before I try it again.

I just wish I could bottle it up when I'm doing it and keep that feeling, because there is nothing in the world that feels as great as when your in stroke!
