I will be headed to San Antonio for a few days tomorrow and wanted some input on a good place to play pool. I will be staying about a block off of the river walk in the Sheraton Gunter. Would like to play some in that area (don't want to drive anywhere) in a nice place where the wife can come and have a good time. Anybody know a good spot. Thanks:smile:

well there is a weekly 9 ball tourney at bananas billiards on san pedro fri night..then sat night tourney at fast eddies off 281 and bitters(embassy oaks)...lookin to play some one pocket though there is day time action and bananas.... not much around riverwalk area but bananas isnt to far of a cab ride, and there is a cabbie that goes there everyday!! he can be your chauffeur!

I have a trip planned for the same area in July (18th/19th), and I am also searching for places to play.

Let me know your opinion of any pool halls you go to while your in S.A.

(You can Google Map Sheraton, and search Nearby "billiards"....Bananas is the closest)

I haven't confirmed any of these addresses.
Looks like the Barney's and Fast Eddies have same addresses. I am thinking Fast Eddies may have bought out Barney's. I know the Barney's in Austin got bought out.

banana's is your best bet for action, always action and big money there from what i hear, i dont hang around there too much.

and FYI the fast eddies on NW military is shut down.

most of the fast eddies are really nice to play in and you will run into good players at any of them. i frequent the perrin beital and embassy locations. in san antonio you can find a good tournement every single night of the week. hope to maybe run into you guys

Being in downtown San Antonio, Bananas is the place you wanna go to play pool. Best action spot in town that I know of. There are a lot of other bars and clubs in that area too. All the Fast Eddies and Clicks pool rooms are a bit farther away.

The 2 highlighted are the only 2 I would consider and you will need transportation for either.

Make sure and give Lorena a wide berth, I heard the waters there are shark infested.
Always action at Bananas, not as nice as some joints. Margarita's on the river walk always a treat.

What time do the tourneys start? Mainly the 9 ball tonight at Bananas - how many players?

Went and played at Banana's Billiards on Saturday. The cab ride was about $15 from downtown (round trip). Definately one pocket action on on of the GC's in the back (few rail birds watching). Place was OK - pool was free so that was nice (not used to that around here) - drinks not so much. I ordered a beer and my wife got a margarita. Can't really mess us a bottle of beer, but the margarita was the worst that I have ever tasted and she ended up tossing about half of it. When the waitress brought us the drinks I asked if I could start a tab and she said no. So my wife gave her the money and she returned the change and stood there looking at us with her hand out for a tip. My wife finally gave her a tip and she walked off (didn't even say thanks or anything). There was an old man passed out in a chair by the table next to me. Tables rolled pretty well (tables rolled toward the rails when you got close. All in all it was am ok place to place -wouldn't get a mixed drink though.
Hope this helps someone who is looking for a place to place while in SA on vacation.
