Save some money and buy-it-now on ebay, although for this fine advice I'll need to collect the difference of about $140.

Get the right coefficient of refraction in your balls and the bend in the laser beam will cancel out the deflection of your shaft ! That's gotta be a good thing (unless you get a reflection in the eye ... all is good until someone looses an eye) !
