Save some money and buy-it-now on ebay, although for this fine advice I'll need to collect the difference of about $140.

...Next thing we now people will be having laser beams shooting through the clear cue ball to the object ball.

Get the right coefficient of refraction in your balls and the bend in the laser beam will cancel out the deflection of your shaft ! That's gotta be a good thing (unless you get a reflection in the eye ... all is good until someone looses an eye) !
