Well I played in my 2nd tourny lastnight ever and I shot my best 9-ball ever. They just had the tables refelted 2 weeks ago with 860 and these badboys were quick, realy quick. It took me about 15 mins to get use to them in warmups and from there it was on. Before warmups ended the owner Carl of Family Billiards in Bergenfield, NJ came over to me and one of my friends who is better then meby at least a ball in 9 ball and told us we were both at a +4 in this tourny. I didn't have a problem with it but he did. after a lil coaxing of not wanting to go home and wanting to play i got him to play with that spot also. It seems I always get my first match against the best players other then my friends. The first match was against another +4 in a race to 7. This kid wis the straight pool tourny's they have on mondays and they were saying he was having an off day. He won the first rack, then broke and didn't make anything. I ran out the 2nd game and continued to win the next 6. I was saying to myself it should have been much closer then that or I was shooting really well which i was or he was having a realy off day. Next match was against a -2. I had to give him the 5 and 3 games on the line. I beat him 7-4. Next match was aginst a -1 so the 5 and 2 games i had to give him. well this kid shot better then the +4 i played my first game against and he beat me 7-4. Luckly it was double elimination and i had to wait for the winner of the loosers bracket game which was my friend anthony and some chick who was a -2. He wound up winning 7-6. so me and him this early and i didn't want that i wanted it to be the final game but it happened this way. take it he is one of the people who tought me how to play better and i play him all the time but not in 9 ball. he beat me 7-4.after our match he played a kid who a -2. it went to 6-6 and he had an easy shot on the 9 and took his eyes off for a second mid stroke and hung it and wound up losing. so he came in 4th and i came in 5th. with a rediculos spot. i just wanted to play because i wanted to play other people. I'm happy with the way I played and me and anthony didn't want to play each other as early as we did.

One tournament at a time and you'll be finishing in the top consistently. Good job on 5th place in the tourney! Believe in your skills and focus on what's at hand and try not to get side tracked or distracted to easily.

Yeah, defenitely keep at it. Nothing puts the pressure on you like a tournament. It's good to learn how to play with that kind of pressure. When you are betting you always have a next game to win your money back. In a tournament, you lose 2 matches and your out! I played in a few local tournaments and it took me about 2 months before i could place in the money, 2 months later i had 1st place. I won it again yesterday for the 3rd week straight!! Before i found that i always cracked under tournament pressure, now i find that i actually play alot better!! I played a bigger tournament in Vancouver, BC a few weeks ago and placed 7th with 5 pros there!! John Horsfall knocked me to the B-side after i missed 4 easy match winning 9's. I got too nervous playing a great champion like him, then an A+ player broke and ran 3 straight racks to knock me out of the tournament. I gotta work my way up to playing better under more pressure.

Yeah fx, I have also saw Horsfall play when he came down to Dr. Cues in Seattle for their annual tourney. Mike Vidas and Simon Pickering were also there. I was super impressed with Simon's 9-0 runover of Paul Potier two years ago. Paul missed twice and kicked once or twice for the match. Good good players up there in BC. YOu play super if you are hanging with any of them. Looking at the lineup of 86 players at the tourney two years ago, I didn't play, I could have beaten about 20-30..been competitive with another 20-30 with good rolls. But the other 30 or so that were above me made me not want to enter and blow the $100+ entry. Not to that level yet.

Way to go Chuck! 5/6th in your 2nd tourney is very respectable. It sucks you had to play your friend early.4 or 5 of us used travel to a tourney in Maine (2-3 hours) and sure enough 1 or 2 of us would match up in the early round's.Nothing you can do about it.

Yea i just cant wait to go back next week cause that +4 that i beat 7-1 is gunning for me. He is a cool kid just a friendly chalange between me and him.
