Converting Player Cue to Break/Jump Cue

I have an extra playing cue from Cuedesg, and currently in need of a break/jump cue. If I buy the butt for a break/jump cue and use the shaft of the playing cue, will there be a big difference from a normal break/jump cue since the tip diameter is different? Or should I use the cuedesg cue as a breaking cue (changing tip) and buy another jump cue?

Would there be any way I could use some parts of this cue since I don't want to waste it.

Not worth the effort. Just buy a basic import j/b cue. good ones can be had for under 150bux.

It’s more money, but a better option to acquire a top tier dedicated jumper. Put a good break tip on the cue you like. Really good players, with really good strokes, can jump with almost anything. Average players, not so much. Something akin to the Cue-tec Propel makes a huge difference for a medium skilled player. I know $500 seems stupid for a seldom used tool, but it works like a charm

What is the tip diameter of the cue? If it’s 12.75 or larger I’d suggest throwing a good break tip on there and making it your break cue and then get a dedicated jump cue. A proper jump cue is usually much better than a jump/break in my experience.

If it’s smaller than that or for whatever reason you don’t want to use that shaft for breaking then garczar is right, grab an affordable jump/break and you’ll be in good shape. They’re not expensive and do as solid a job as a jump/break can probably.

A month or so ago I bought a simple action break/jump I might even teach myself to jump. I am happy with cue, just having the phenolic tip/ ferrule is a huge difference. I might even learn to jump lol. I made a half hearted jab and the cue ball popped off the table easily enough.

I have always recommended Action/ Players sneaky pete's as the best entry level cue. simple straight forward solid hitting

that is what i got with the break/jump
