Playing With Different Cues

was wondering if this might be a mistake on my part? i currently have 4 different cues i regularly play with - Nova, Lucasi, Pechauer, and Cuetec.

however, i do notice that they all seem to play differently, just to a small degree though. i guess i just enjoy playing/practicing with a different cue from the previous night. however, seems like sometimes i miss shots and/or position early on, and i wonder if its because of my playing with a different cue from the night before?

what do you posters think?
should i decide which cue i want to play with, and basically play/practice with it all the time, period? the specs on the cues are all basically the same, around 18.25-18.5 oz, 12.75mm, and around a 12" shaft taper.

regards,

I'm in the same boat DCP. I like all of my cues so much I can't help but play with all of them. I tend to be able to adjust pretty quickly but I suppose that if you only played with one you would probably be a lot more consistant so your sub-concious only has to remember how to adjust for one cue :)

Mass of the tip, shape of the tip, brand/type of tip, size of shaft tip, etc. will all affect play so far as where the ball goes.

Also taper, sturdyness of shaft, balance, joint type, weight of cue, etc. will probably affect how you hit a ball.

Personally I feel that these are all variables which can be elliminated by using only one cue, a consistant tip shape, and chalk before each shot so your tip will get consistant contact.

There are too many other variables like cloth, condition of balls, humidity, lighting, noise, rack, etc. If you can cut down on some of the variables, then I would think it would be better for more consistant play. However the idea is to have fun. If you get more pleasure out of using your different sticks, then go for it!

well, i am supposed to be getting a Predator Shaft for my Lucasi Cue tomorrow, it was supposed to be here today, but for some reason its been delayed a day.

anyway, once i get this Predator Shaft, and i decide i like it after giving it a fair shake, i believe i will adopt the Lucasi/Predator combo as my full time #1 cue. however, if i decide i dont like the Predator Shaft and return it, i believe the Nova might have to be the main weapon i consistently use.

lots of good points men, thanx.

Don't Forget

You could continue to play with your " Peter ". I think that's your best bet. You have probably been playing with that longer than the other cues mentioned. Just a suggestion.

I agree. Purdy's brutal. Do you remember when he jumped on The Silencer when Silencer wrote about soft short ding dong?
Purdy was on top of that. Silencer was crying.
I was too. From LAUGHING!
Thanks Don!
