First thing I did when we moved to Amsterdam, NY last year was to Google pool rooms nearby. Nada. All I found was Amsterdam Billiards in NYC... only 3 hours away. So I bought my own table and have been knocking balls around, and having the occasional friend over for a game or two. That was getting old fast.
Yesterday while looking at websites for rooms in nearby cities, I clicked on a link to "our other location". Bingo! The owner of "Trick Shot Billiards" in Clifton Park (45 minutes away for me) just opened a new room - "Sharpshooters"- in Amsterdam last fall. So I went over to check it out.
They have eight 9' Diamonds and eight 7' Diamonds, all Pro-Ams in Tournament Blue and in great shape, having been recently purchased after last years Turning Stone event. Lots of room around them, too. Tuesday special is $8/person from opening to closing, so I know where my Tuesday nights will be spent.
I'd be curious to find if there are any AZ'ers that play out of this room. There were some pretty good shooters there last night, even a couple older guys playing 14.1 that really seemed to understand the game. Way out of my league, but I'm slowly coming along.
