Anyone know anything about Snooker cues?

I have a vintage E J Riley 16 oz cue with an unusual metal hard case. Any information to identify the wood, the age and if possible the approximate value.

Thanks Jack

Hi,

This is a Riley snooker cue from around 1900. They are not all that rare, should be worth in the region of $150 if it is in decent condition. I don't know anything about the case. Normally the main wood in these cues is ash.

Here is an example...
