I had a run of 7 on tue night. On the next shot for the 8th point, I had the layout as seen in page 1.

I was thinking of page 2 with a little of follow to shorten the angle a little bit, in the worse case I might get lucky with the layout in page 3.

It still went too long as seen in page 4.

Ira walked in a few minutes later and he suggested the shot in page 5 would be a better choice for me. It seems I have learned a new shot to practice on. :)

I would have shot the same shot, but with center left and played for the second way. It always seems to be more natural for me. Nice run anyway.
 
I would play the shot on page five as well, even though it's one I miss all the time because I'm too worried about speed or spin and not enough about the hit on the ball. All the reverse in the world doesn't help when I hit the red too thick.

Here is an option that you should at least consider when the hit on the red is too tough for either the plus-2 or the cross table:
