Pocket clearance

As you can see from the photo it appears to be to be way too much room in the pockets. Is there a standard measurement, or just the two ball guess.

4 1/2" pockets are pretty common now, mine are slightly tighter but I am going to have them opened a little when my table is re-covered soon. Mine measure 4 1/4"-4 3/8", 2 balls should just fit side by side in a 4 1/2" pocket. One thing you need to watch for as you tighten the pocket up you lose pocket shelf, if you tighten your pockets your pocket shelf will become shallower, the ball will not sit as deep in the pocket opening before falling off the edge of slate. Valleys tend to play easy because they have very shallow pocket shelves.
