Pocket repair?

I have an Olhausen table with the leather mesh pockets. The leather around the steel frame is splitting. I plan on refurbishing the table in a few months (felt and new cushions with tighter pockets) and will probably bite the $280 bullet then. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to cover the split until then? I want to buy new balls and don't want to ruin them banging them off a steel bar. I'd prefer that the repair look somewhat presentable if possible.

You could go to a fabric store and get some similarly colored faux leather, cut a strip and apply it with some spray adhesive. Your best bet is replacing them.

longer then short term repair?

Get a leather stitcher or a sailors needle and a good size piece of leather. Fold the leather over the top of the steel rail and stitch it from inside out from the center out both ways. Can fringe the leather on the outside for a decent presentation.

once you get the materials it will take fifteen minutes.
