Poison Arsenic AR5 review

I finally made my choice and went for a Poison Arsenic(2nd generation) cue.
At first I wanted an AR1 because of the price, but they were out of stock.
So then I ordered AR4, but in the end changed my mind for AR5.
Someone here sold me a barely used one for 250 euros. It still has the fabric tip on it, but it's not sarin,
he ordered it with a hard tip, though he forgot which brand, but it is layered. It looks like a Moori to me.
I prefer Medium tips and I used Kamui Medium on my previous cue, but it's still great.

-Now about the cue...
This is the signature Rodney Morris model. It has his signature.

-Decorations:
According to the Poison site it's decorated with white mikarta and black maple inlays.
The decorations are pretty cool and I especially like the carved in Poison logo at the bottom,
the signature and the Poison Arsenic text at the top(All of them are carved in). The design is very unique I think.

-Playing:
It comes with a Venom shaft that has Double Density(DD) technology.
It has a great, smooth feel to it and in a lot of ways it does feel like the 314-2 predator shaft.
Not exactly the same, but still reminds me of it(Poison is a part of Predator after all...).
The tip diameter is 13mm. Hits pretty well and generates really great spin. No trouble with deflection for now.
The joint is a Bullet Joint by Uniloc. Shaft slips on and goes off very fast, almost instantly. Really great joint.
As for the butt, it's very very well balanced and has a pretty good feel to it. There is no grip, but that's totally fine.
Vibrations are minimal and only noticeable on very powerful shots, but not an issue.

So I've played with this cue for 2 days and I really love it so far.
Poison Arsenic AR5 is definitely a lot like a cheaper version of Predator, not exactly the same, but still excellent!
I'm very satisfied with this cue and I'd definitely recommend a Poison Arsenic cue to anyone looking for a great playing cue,
but who doesn't have enough money for a Predator.
One day I'll get a 314-2 shaft for this cue to "upgrade it" ;)...

*Scores:
*Stroke: 9/10
*Balance: 10/10
*Feel: 9/10
*Decorations: 9.5/10
*Overall: 9.3/10 - Excellent

Thank you for your review.
I have owned a Poison VX for 3 years now and decided I wanted something prettier, and since I like how my VX plays, I order an Arsenic AR2.

Good to read you like the AR5, can't wait to get my hands on my new AR2, hoping it is just as nice :)

Hey, I played in a tournament yesterday(Placed 6th) and someone had an AR2. That cue is so beautiful! The wrap looks awesome. I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure it's about the same as AR5. Only difference is that there's a wrap I suppose. Shaft, joint, all is the same.

Oh and by the way, I think AR is better than VX according to my internet research. The joint is different and there's a special Venom shaft for VX. I'm not sure about anything else because I've never tried one, but I can guarantee you'll be satisfied with the AR2.

Cool, 6th is pretty decent, does depend on the total amount of players though :p

I haven't seen it in person yet, but I liked the look of the red inlay and the stainless in contrast to the black, and indeed I liked the wrap.
My VX has a rubber wrap which sometimes feels a bit sticky.

I saw it online and got a 5% price match discount, and on top of that another 5% pay in advance discount making the cue an irresistible +/- 240,- euro price, so I decided to give myself a present ;)

Cool, nice price. Here in Europe it costs 270 euros. Cheaper online from the US. The red inlays look really cool. Cue looks way better in person.
