Pool and Video Games

Just wondering if there was anyone out there like me without a pooltable. If so, have any of you checked out the PC game Virtual Pool 3. It's pretty old, but incredibly realistic with great graphics and physics. It has all the games, 9ball, snooker, 14.1, one pocket, etc. I usually play it when I can't get to the pool hall to play for real.

I recommend it to all D-B level players. Although it obviously has no effect on your physical game, I can say with confidence that it does help your mental game. Of course if you have 24 hour access to a pool table then this game isn't for you.

If anyone out there has this game and wants to play online, send me a PM, and we'll set up a match.

Also, here is a link to check it out:

You should meet my friend Patrick!!! He enjoys the video game versions of pool so much that he doesn't believe that pool tables, balls, or cues are necessary anymore! He's a weird one, but he'll play you.

sounds good.

there's no replacing the real thing, but playing this game has really brought the mental part of my game up a notch. I'm able to see runouts much quicker.

sometimes i play pool on pogo. Its definitely fun and somewhat realistic (english actually works as it should) however one thing I dont like is that with pogo you cant just set balls up and practice. Id love a game that would let you setup balls the way you want and just shoot around. Would really help me learn 2, 3 and 4 rail shots in my opinion since i dont have a table at home. Is something like this an option in that?

Oh god, Pogo? You call that realistic? If you're looking for a game that'll let you throw balls around and practice, then I highly recommend this game for you.

I suggest this too.. it's pretty realistic for a game..

Despite the game being pretty old there's still a site full of people that play it with tournaments for various games being ran i think everyday.. and there's always a game going online..

A new version was also released which is dubbed the Curly version. Jeanette has been removed due to them not retaining the rights to use her anymore as the face of the game... and a few other things have been updated such as an all new career mode..

Game can be found pretty much anywhere.. it's a steal for only $10 online..

Video (virtual) pool is great for getting the basic understanding of "ball movement", because the computer is doing the perfect stroke.

You, on the other hand, are not. Go out and actually practice.

I understand you don't have the money to rent a table, or have a table in the house. You're learning the only way you can, and that's with the computer. At least your learning, that's the good sign. But, nothing compares to going out and actually applying what you learned.
