I am not sure how your states Interlibrary loan programs works or what books the have for pool but check out my state's list. They had other books but thsese are ones I have not read and am going to request. It costs me a buck per book to get it mailed to my library and it takes a few weeks for each book to come in. What a deal!

Reviews of these books would be helpful since I can get the best ones first. Let me know if any stick out. The Willie Hoppe book sound pretty good.

The Willie Hoppe book is just OK. It's mainly a diamond system book that he didn't even actually write. You're better off getting Robert Byrnes' standard and advanced books on pool- they have a better treatment of the diamond system and are excellent books for anyone who likes three cushion billiards. Some of the tracks shown in Hoppes' book are wrong and Byrne talks about this in his books.

The Koehler book is excellent but technical. Definately worth checking out but he talks about memorizing graphs (chapter on rail shots, for example) and this is way too much to ask for most players I know. Still, it gives you a good idea of why the balls react like they do as far as throw, collision induced english,etc...

Yes libraries can contain gems. My local one has a mint copy of "Willie's Game" which I would never have been able to read otherwise. It also lists that Jean Balukas book but I can never find it in stock in any local libraries. Has anyone read it? Is it any good?
