is it better yo put an extension at the bottom of the butt or on the joint of the pool cue.
is one or the other better for your stoke or adjustment period.

I've never played with an extension on my cue; however, based on the way energy transfers through the cue from the shaft to the butt, It's possible that your cue might play noticeably different with a joint extension as opposed to a butt extension.

It might be advisable to test both options to see which one feels and performs best.

I recently tried both types of extensions and I feel it takes some getting used to with one between the shaft and butt. on the other hand a tried the extension on the back of the butt and adjusted instantly felt no difference being 6'5 i lined up a shot and when i naturally adjusted my back hand for the right stroke my hand ended up right on the extension without even thinking about it.

The only thing about extensions added to the back of the cue that I find problematic is that you are now bridging on a varnished part of the cue. I use the one that slides on to the back but I feel I have to be extra careful in bridging, even with an open bridge.

I've never tried one that adds to the middle of the cue.
