I voted 0-5%. This seems to be the case even where there are leagues in the South. More women play up north (I've lived on all four coasts).
The reason is simple. Owners generally aren't smart enough to attract female players. Virtually no tournaments for women. And too often, disrespect for women who are just learning the game.
When I lived up north years ago, most pool halls (and bars) had a ladies' night that brought lots of women in, and not surprisingly, more men. It was generally on Monday night. One successful owner explained, "After their men spent too much time out partying on the weekend, the women wanted their night out with the girls".
There's a lot more females in league than on a regular night. But 20/500 players might feel warm and fuzzy but it's still 4%. And those girls are there at the very most 4 nights in a month. So sure, add them in but in the words of Cleary and Buffalo ... do the math (first).
