in snooker side spin is rarely used. in three cushion side spin is used a ton almost on every shot. in pool, it's used somewhat. in snooker you always use an open bridge. in 3-cushion you always use a closed bridge. once again in pool, it's right in the middle, you use both open and closed bridges. in snooker you use small balls, in 3-cushion large balls, in pool, you guessed it, medium sized balls. in snooker the shaft is as thin as a pencil, in billiards, as thick as a baseball bat, in pool, medium tapered shaft. in snooker the cloth is slow, in 3-cushion fast, in pool, in-between. what does this all mean? maybe it's a little more difficult, to master pool? because you have more variables? who knows? posting is free, so why not make you think.

Question for ya BERNIE....
if a person plays all 3 games u mentioned,,,do they switch their bridge when switching games????

another one....if using side in pool or 3-cushion, how would you play the same postional shot in snooker, when you say its rarely used???

Bernie, side is used all the time in snooker. Just watch Hendry or Williams move the cueball around the black spot one day. The pros generally don't use very much of it (1/2 tip or thereabouts) and th cushions are cut much differently so the effects are far less obvious than in a game like 9 ball.
