Pool league story last night

I play BCA but I also play in a Beer league. There is one game where each team chooses a player to play the "Beer frame".

I'm playing Jim Boyce who is a legend in Kitsap county. He is playing perfect pool but the eight ball is tough and he barely misses it. My team is rooting me on to run out all my balls because if I win the other team has to buy us beer and if I lose we have to buy them beer. ($20 has to go to the bar to be used on any items)

I think I'm nipple-hooked at some point so I call a time out. Vince doesn't think I'm hooked but I'm still not sure. I really don't want to hit the nipple and give up ball in hand but the other ball I could shoot at would make for a much tougher out. I'm about to shoot but the captain walks in and I take my second time out. For a minute they protest saying I can't take both of my timeouts in a row but it's decided that I can.

Shawn says I have it all day. I cleared the nipple and now I'm on the rail and HAVE to use high inside english to go two rails to the other end of the table. I'm nervous cuz I know these shots curve more but I compensate correctly and the shot goes and even the other team is saying nice shot and they know it's over.

I make the last solid that was on the end rail and I'm perfectly straight about 6 feet away from the eight ball that is about 8 inches from the pocket. I shoot a perfect stop shot and the eight ball hits the BOTTOM of the pocket and bounces back onto the table for perfect shape in the opposite corner pocket.

Huge reaction as everyone watching has money on this! Having read and participated in the recent thread about this rule I knew what to do. As one of our players is asking what the rule is I just calmly walked back to my seat and conceded the table. After all, I was very adamant that the rule HAD to be that the shot is no good in the latest thread.

He shoots the easy 8 and we all reach into our wallets for $4 bucks each while one guy on my team is saying, "You guys really want to win like that?"

Then one of our guys mentions that I never hit a rail! LOL! It was awesome. Glad it happened. The pool Gods know I've been a dick lately. :)

Good call LUX... bad luck, but you took the bad luck like a man. No diff than hitting a rocket down the right field line, and it hits the umpire, and I'm held to a single... nothing you can do but smile about it. Shit happens, and rules are rules. The ball never stayed down.... happends on my table at home a lot more than you think, and it's the same pocket but can't figure out why ????

The cushions, tops of the rails, pockets and pocket liners are parts of the rails. - so at least you didn't make a foul :-) lol

From now on, please do not post stories like this one. You see, when I began a thread on this very topic, I was verbally assaulted, degraded, and spat upon. I was told the topic was unnecessary, unwanted, and without any value. And so then it must also be true, that this forum does not hold your thread here to be of any importance. So it will be in the best interest of the forum if you would refrain from any more topics along these lines.

Bet you will hit that shot a little softer next time. :)

*Sprays "troll-b-gone" around this thread hoping he goes away*

Was it a Global table?

I own one and the bottom of the pocket which is the track for the ball return will bounce center pocket hits like a trampline. If struck just right a medium hard shot can bounce back on the table. A local casino had 6 of these tables, all tournaments were played by modified BCA rules in that it was a house rule that balls hitting the bottom of the pocket and coming back on the table were considered pocketed and shooter continued with said ball thrown down. Any balls disturbed by it on its return visit were left in their new position. Never heard any complaints, after all it is equipment failure.

Good story, Lee. I hear that you are back playing at Stixx. Good luck with the rest of your season.

Nice story & the Nipple hook shot was nice. But....what lesson did you learn?

Next time make sure only one ball is in the bottom of the money ball pocket.

Best Wishes to All,

How many pool halls are in Bremerton? I left there in 1993 and remember only one that opened within a year before I left. I think it was down town near the navy yard. There were a lot of bars with valleys.

The difference between you an Lux is his stories are good and he's earned his stripes. Now sit down and shut up!

I bet it was well worth the $4. You should have sharked him and went double or nothing!

Best Wishes to All,

It had a ball return but next time ill put a piece of memory foam down there.

The other question about pool halls in B-town...we have Stixx n Stones period. It is very nice with about 10 9 footers and three 8 footers and liquor. It's more in the middle of town.

Oh, I missed that, but a handkershift can wipe away tears in more ways than one.

Just bad luck. You were right tho, its still in play. i have had balls roll up onto the rail, and come back into play. Some people think thats a foul, but its not...cant say you didnt get a rail when the balls rolls on top of it.
