Pool Mantras

Where'd my stroke go?

The other day, I was practicing my crappy 10-ball break and struggling to make a ball and keep the cue ball from flying all over the table. A local pro then comes over and tells me to "drive it right through the 10". I lined up for the next break with that in mind and smacked it dead, and made 2 balls with a perfect shot on the 1. Since then, I've been repeating those words before every break and the difference has been like night and day.

It made me realize that having a mantra to bring up the correct image in your mind before a shot can be a pretty powerful thing.

What works for one person may not work for another, but what are some of the mantras you guys use when playing?

You're right as rain there, victori. The power of positive thinking with reinforcement.
Why, just the other afternoon I was playing One Pocket with the guys when I noticed this really good looking woman sitting near the table next to me. When our eyes met I knew there was something special going on between us.
As I walked over to where she sat I kept saying to myself. "I know I can, I know I can, I know I can."
When I got there her boyfriend jumped up and said. "Oh, no you can't!" And punched out one of my headlamps. :)

I start off with the cue ball right on the headspot. If I find the second row balls are coming back past the side pockets, I'll move the cue ball off to the side further and further until the second row balls start falling.
