SUN will broadcast the US Open today at 4:00pm and 10:30pm.

Then tomorrow ESPN2 will have 5 straight hours of pool on TV. 1:00pm to 6:00pm.

Grady Matthews and Howard Vickery with be the commentators and Shannon Daulton and Larry Nevel will be the players.

Sunshine Network (SUN) runs the same match four (4) times during each week. M-4P; Th-5a; F-4p; F-10:30p. And will do this for 13 weeks. Don't know what the schedule for Dish or Direct Tv is. Jake

Jake, The schedule for the the dish providers is the same since they just show the same Sunshine Network that you get on cable. The package that I had to buy also includes Empire network that shows the matches a week earlier so both don't show the same thing each week. The times on Empire are Thurs @9PM, Fri @2PM, Sat @midnight.

There are about 22 channels in the package and they are mostly repeats or infomercials. Fox is trying to take over TV but they don't have enough programming to take advantage of all the stations they have. I would think they would welcome someone coming along with regular pool shows but you probably have to pay plenty to get some of their empty space.

I get dozens of channels showing nothing or 5 to 10 choices of where to watch the same Fox shows at the same time. Since they are regional I guess they all have to carry the same thing sometimes.

boyPEKTUS,
"roadrunner DTV" doesn't tell me much about what cable system you are on. Time Warner provides both the Road Runner high speed internet as well as some Digital TV signals. Assuming you have Time Warner in the New York region you should be able to get Empire Sports as part of the Premium Sports Tier. That will get you the pool shows on BCtv we have been talking about.

You may now be getting Fox Sports World which will be showing some WPC matches starting today and tomorrow at 4PM and the next 4 days at 5PM. Unfortunately that would cost me an additional $10 per month so I may forego it unless they will prorate the cost for 6 days.

I have the Fox Sports World, much to my surprise, with Comcast Digital Cable.

The WPC on TV is awesome! I have never seen pool look so great on television before. I absolutely LOVE the way the British commentators describe the play-to-play shots. Listening to their funny comments, enthusiasm, and wit is very ENTERTAINING. Whoever is responsible for this has done an outstanding job.

Thank Barry Hearns and Matchroom Sports. They do a GREAT job every year. They are the same people who put on the Mosconi Cup every year, too. They use expert commentary from the likes of Jim Wych, Steve Davis, Sid Waddell, and Jerry Forsyth, instead of dumbing down the sport by using a moron like Mitch Laurence. Every once in a while, they'll bring in a guest commentator. I remember Kim Davenport doing a guest spot once. It'll be interesting to see how the production is going to change once those two tournaments move from Cardiff, Wales, which is going to happen soon. I've been spoiled listening to those guys talk about the game, I can't even stand to listen to to Mitch Laurence's voice any more, let alone hear the content of what he has to say. I hope he has nothing to do with the WPC or Mosconi Cup if they come to the States.

Bravo to Matchroom Sports! The commentators actually make the show more entertaining, the way their voices elevate as they get excited when a ball is pocketed. TV pool in the U.S. is like watching a tennis match, boring for me, but these English commentators are exciting.

I have always liked to listen to Jon Miller and Joe Morgan at a Giants baseball game. Doesn't matter who they are playing, but these TV sports commentators make the game thrilling, just like those English commentators. Maybe American pool could use a couple of these English commentators. I think it would really help make American pool more exciting to the American TV viewing audience.

I saw the Stalev-Davenport US Open match last night.
The camera work was great.
The audio was terrible. There were no table microphones. All you can hear was the commentary by Matthews and Incardona.
Matthews voice is not tv friendly. He kept trying to outdo Incardona. Incardona is more controled and is a joy to listen to.
The two commentators were both color commentators.
They need to go to one color guy and one play by play announcer format and have table mics.
How in the world can we enjoy a pool game without hearing the table action and the audience?
I know we are lucky to have pool on tv but I hope it improves.
I also don't like the edited version. Jeesh, they cut out Kim's comeback wins.

Try watching the game on tv and all you can hear is the table action and the audience. For some reason, maybe because I'm stationed in Japan, the comentators voices were blocked out. It really got frustrating a couple of times like when Tony Drago had a foul called against him late in the match with Alex Pagulayan, without being able to hear the comentators I had no clue what had just happened and did't find out until days later. Another reason it was anoying was you know how when they show the top view of the table and then they use one of those magic pen thingies and write on the screen?, well they were doing it constantly and it drove me nuts. But atleast I was able to watch pretty much the whole tournement from the final 64 on, which is a miracle over here.
