Drove over to Main Street Billiards yesterday in Mesa Az to watch the State 9 Ball Championships. Was kind of APPALLED that several of the Spectator seem to have ZERO REGARD for what i will call Pool Room Etiquette.

During the Tournament that Player had plucked down $50.00 to play in several spectators keep walking in and through to playing are when guy were trying to make shots.

Yes there was on are where a lot of spectators were gathered that was ring next to the Head Table, and the only Access was close to the Head Table. But I would have thought if someone need in or out of the Spectator Area, they would have had the Common Courtesy to WAIT Until a Individual Game was over.

Think if I had been playing at that Table, I would have said something to one guy in Particular who seem to spend more time walk in and out of the spectator area, than watch the Matches.

Lots of Better 9 Ball player, many good games, and worth the drive to Watch that matches.

I guess I have an idea of what your saying here. Was there any spectator rules or someone in charge of fan activity? Either way, pool players should be used to a lot of movement around them while playing. Wouldn't want this to be an elitist sport, like golf. :(

Well I just think the Player Space SHOULD be respected, when they are in Tournaments. When they are READY to Shoot you need not walk in their Path.

Your point about Golf was valid, but have covered Golf Events as a Photojournalist. There were Rules for Media (cameramen), and Galley that were respected when Player were shooting. ;)

Actually, what is interesting is that most pool players (including myself) get distracted when someone is ABOUT to walk by and stops yet they're in the shooter's peripheral vision. It's actually less distracting if they just continue moving.

For you, what you must understand is that you're ALWAYS going to have this problem. You're best off learning how to cope with it rather than trying to dictate your environment. I'd suggest playing in a bar for one night a week so you can get used to people who have absolutely no care in the world for what you're doing.

I used to get distracted by all kinds of things. But then I finally learned that I cannot change the envirnoment or other people. In pool, there are only a few things one can control, one being how well one stays focused before and during a match.
I can choose to put in a 100% for everyshot, and I think that is a more positive way to spend my energy than to get negative about my surroundings, which I have very little control of.
