I think nicks place is closed. It's been a long time but there used to be a place called Hutch's in downtown. Check with Chad Carter. That's his hometown. He will know where the action is.
I can't offer any suggestions on pool rooms in Owensboro but I will tell you if you like BBQ, you have to go to Old Hickory. IMHO, one of the best in the country. I'd recommend the 3 meat sampler and save room for the blackberry cobbler ala mode. It is to die for. Some people may want to send you to Moonlight, which is good, but no where near as good as Old Hickory.
If Owensboro doesn't have anything to offer in the way of pool, Evansville, IN is about 1/2 hour away. A little larger city and should have something in the way of pool.

Old hickory's chopped mutton is the best in the world.
Moonlite BBQ (on Parrish, i think) has the best all you can eat buffet too.

The pickings are slim in Owensboro. The 8 ball (in a strip mall on 20th and Triplet street) has valley bar boxes, This place gets kind of rough.
Frankies Sports bar and Grill. They have 8' coin op tables. They were expensive the last time I went in there but had a nice clientèle. There is a dress code.
Some place off second street. I couldn't remember the name. It's located on the corner of 2nd and Poplar street. This was a decent place with 6 or so 7' Diamond and two 9' Diamonds.

All the above barbeque suggestions are spot on. We are talking word class barbeque at multiple restraunts in Owensboro.
