Pool table light height dimension

I can't seem to find the light height dimension for hanging and 8' light over a 9' table. I checked the BCA site with no luck. I have a light just like you would find in a typical pool room. I want to hang the light prior to assembling the table so that I don't have to climb atop the table to mount the light. Can anyone shed some light on my dilema. Thanks

Why dont you just take a measuring tape to the pool hall?
Measure from the floor to the height of the playing surface, then from the playing surface to the light.

I've had some people say to me that they can't shoot right when the light isn't right because they use the shadows and light on the ball to aim. I tell them that every tournament that I've went to that was not in a pool hall, had no lights. Just the ceiling lighting that was already in the room.

Just get a light, put it above the table high enough to stay out of the way and well centered on the table.

In other words there is no rule. You don't see the same light height from one pool hall to the next.

Any suggestions on how to hang the light so that the height will be adjustable. I will have the new floor joist mounted drop ceiling (ceiling max)and it is a real pain to make adjustments to it once it is in place.

I would think 36" to 44" would be ideal. Just split the difference and make it 40".

On the Brunswick website, they say there are no set rules on how high to hang a light. But a general rule is to hang the light so that the bottom of it is at nose height of the tallest person usually playing on it.

There are a few factors. Set the height so equal light dispersment is good and without shadows. How bright and type of shade sets the tone for this adjustment. Also consider, when you sit down, do you want to look at bulbs, if applicable? I doubt with a regular bulb you'd ever want it over 36". It all depends on what your lighting the table with.

OH, and if you want it easily adjustable, hang it with chains.

Strange. I just posted a similar question on another forum and was about to post it here, also. The world is a connected place.

Thanks for your responses to someone else's question :^)
