Pool Table Lighting

I just have a couple questions about proper lighting and placement. I just installed my first table in my basement and the nest thing i need is a good light for it. I have a 8" table with tournement green cloth. Will a three light unit do the job? What height above the table should the light be hanging? Is there a standard for that? And what type of light bulbs are commonly used? Thanks for all your time and replys. They have helped me quite a bit!

Table lighting!

Hello, I put a GC3 in my basement and I put in 3, 4 foot florecent lights streaching across the table from the long rail to the long rail. Each light fixture has 4, 4 foot bulbs, for a total of 12, 4 foot bulbs. I did this because I tape my challenge matches on this table and you can not have enough lighting for high quality dvd matches. If you don't plan on taping any matches, then you could go with a 3 light fixture but I would recommend a 4 light fixture, again, you can not have enough lighting!!! You can also have other room lighting for your basement but that won't help to light the table all that much. hope this helped!!

FINGERS!!

Suggestion

My home table is equipped with a three-bulb overhead light at 37 inches above the Simonis cloth, and with 120-watt equivelent e-bulbs. Takes about four minutes to warm up, but it's bright enough (and then some) and it sucks less volts.

I'd try it.

I have a 9ft Gold Crown and use a 4 Bulb light above it. I also use teh 120watt equivalent bulbs. I think they are the bright white ones. I just hung it and adjusted the height until I had even coverage across the entire table.

i have a gc3 that is centered under an 8 foot 4 tube fluorescent fixture with a diffuser. Mine is installed flush in my drop ceiling, but can be hung above the table ( I played for years in a pool room in arlington that used this light and it works great ) This fixture can be found in most electrical supply stores. It is a great light ( no glare because of the diffuser )
Ive had it for 15 years and have replaced the light tubes once.
Hope this helps
