Here's a trick shot that I sent to Bob Byrne for his second book on the subject. He didn't publish it...gee whiz, doesn't he know genius when he sees it???!!!
The nice thing about this shot is it only requires a cueball and therefore can be done for free on a coin op., something we pool players value more than life itself.
Anyway, this shot requires a plastic "to go" beer cup, like the ones that come in a sleeve with a keg, for example. Most every bar has them, I think.
Lay the cup on its side with the bottom on the foot spot and the top pointing directly toward the head spot. Place the cueball on the head spot and shoot it into the opening in the cup. The object is to make the cueball go into the cup and leaving the cup standing upright with the cueball in the bottom of it.
Sounds easy, but try it and see.
A variation and more difficult shot is to make the cueball enter the cup, the cup stands up and falls over toward the foot rail, the cueball leaves the cup, hits the foot rail and rolls back into the cup and it ends upright with the cueball in it...I've yet to complete this one successfully.
Oh yeah...drink all the beer before attempting this feat.
Enjoy,
Jeff Livingston
