porper model 2000

I have been looking at the pics of the model 2000 lathe porper lathe. I can see how the straight taper works, but, I cant see how you taper a shaft. Can someone explain how it works on the porper.

There are two separate channels on the underneath side of the taper bar. In one channel, the bearing rides in a straight taper. In the other channel, the bearing rides in a shaft taper that is machined to about a 12" pro taper. It takes about 2 minutes to change from one taper to the other.
