I found I normally grip the cue way past the threading, sometimes right on the end of the cue, without my little ifnger anyway near the cue as well sometimes (I grip lightly). However someone pointed out that you should grip on the threading as otherwise you cant be stroking properly...

Any opinion?
Where do you hold the cue? Before the threading? On it, After?
Does it affect your game?

If there was only one correct place to grip a cue, then the linen wrap would be only a handswidth long. ;)

One's forearm should be perpendicular to the table when the cue tip hits the cue ball (except for special circumstances like long-reach shots, masse', etc.). Grip the butt wherever necessary to achieve this goal.

The reason for this prescription is that the cue will be as nearly level as possible when the pendulum of the forearm is at the lowest point in its swing, perpendicular to the table. Unintended upward or downward force applied to the cue ball will be minimized.

Thanks for the advice.

I find that becuae I use a long bridge (over 12") and use quite a long backswing my backarm feels much more comfortable being towards the end of the cue. I can swing easily and follow through more.. I have tried bringing it forward a bit but it just feels "cramped"...

easiest way to tell..is get down in your stance with your bridge adressing the cueball as you normall would, with the cuetip almost touching the cueball. Now grip with your bridgehand and hold the cue in place, now with your elbow up and in position, let your forearm and hand hang down, so your elbow makes roughly a 90 degree angle and your your arm is perpendicular to the cue. This should roughly be where you need to grip the ball for your stance and bridge length. Im tall and i end up holding the cue 2 or 3 inchs behind the wrap. If you are right on the edge of the cue, you may either need to shorten up your bridge or get a longer stick. Everybody is different but 12" for a bridge length may be a little long. Unless youre really short or it just works great for you.
