I saw Charlie over the weekend at Highpockets. He is a great guy and obviously loves the game. He stopped his practice to give me some pointers and it turned into a mini lesson. Charlie knows his stuff and is a great teacher. He communicates things in a way that are easy to understand and I really think it is because he has really thought about the game a lot and he is telling you what he distilled it down to. Things can be pretty simple sometimes.
I got ready to break the balls and he was beside me with his break cue for me to try out. I had a jump come up and he came over had had his break cue broken down and then took me through his thought process on that shot. I liked his break cue- 14mm, 22oz, leather wrap. It hit the balls solid. He wanted to see me do better.
I would not hestitate to take a full lesson from him and I told him when the book comes out I will be one of his first customers. He has a lot of love for the game- stopping his practice routine to help someone out. The craziest thing was that he remembered me from the early 90s where we saw each other and he gave me a mini- lesson in kicking balls.
Great player, great guy, great for the sport.
I can easily see him getting a corporate sponsor.
