Positive Pechauer experience ~ AAA+

In 2010 I bought a Pechauer Pro Series Pro H model which is their "Sneaky Pete". I played with it often,
not all the time because I own other cues too. It has been a great player.

About 5 or so years ago my shaft go a little "taper roll", maybe 1/8th", maybe a hair more. I called, they said
send the entire cue. Couple weeks later they sent cue back with a new shaft. All great, played exactly like old shaft.

Fast forward to the end of February, this year. I called and spoke to "Scott", telling him this shaft had warped. I also
reminded him that it was a 2010 cue and the shaft had already been replaced once. I wasn't really expecting much but
he told me to send the entire cue in. (I'll try to copy and paste his response after he received the cue to the bottom here).

The gist of it is that Scott replied that the butt was also warped, which I had no clue. Bottom line is he gave me a credit for $370.00,
knowing I only paid $290.00 through a dealer here in Birmingham in 2010.
I chose to get the Black Ice Break Cue at $430.00. I sent a payment of $449.97 via PP and was almost instantly refunded $370.00.
Total cost for me was $79.97 and shipping for the cue initially sent to them. From the 1st phone call till I received the new cue was 3 weeks.

This is what a good company does that stands behind their product, and Scott was just fantastic. I'm now considering buying another cue just because.
All communications were almost immediate, and total of 3 weeks I had a new cue.
I'm a little OCD with most of my belongings and they could tell when they examined the cue that it was well taken care of and not abused.
I had a similar experience with McDermott 12 years ago, but that's another story.

I hope posting the $ amounts and the email from Scott is not against the rules here, if so, I'm sure they'll be removed. Here is Scott's 1st email ~

Dear Johnny,

We finally received the cue. The label was torn off somehow which slowed the package down a bit.

Actually the butt is warped as well. The finish has some waves in it which generally happens when the cue is exposed to some heat which may be just an Alabama thing. We will replace the cue but if possible we would like to do something that is not a one piece butt. So it would need to have a wrap section. It can still be a no wrap, the butt would just be a 3 piece butt which has less chance of warping. The Pro-H, P02-K, P03-K, and P07-K are actually the only one piece butts in our cue lines. The JP Series cues would have the same joint style as your P02 so maybe the JP08-R would be a good fit? Otherwise if you just want to stick with a P02-K we can do that too. The Rogue upgrade would probably be a good idea for you. The retail value on your cue is $370 so you can take that against any cue. Then the Rogue upgrade is $375. Take a look and let me know what you would like to do.

Sincerely,

Scott Douglas

Mirrors my experience with them as well. Let us know how you like the break cue
The butt is 1 piece curly maple @ 12.3oz. The shaft is 13mm @ 6.5oz, (that's not a typo), Juma ferrule, and their Gold Break tip
which is very hard, barely scuff it with the Sandman. It's extremely slick with whatever process they use to infuse the dye.
I've only broke a few racks, it's very forward balanced @ 22" and very controllable. It hits 'em like Mike Tyson, that's what I'm gonna name it! lol
I'll add another post after I get about 50 or so breaks in and have a better feel for what it does.

There's nothing like a good customer service experience from a vendor who's product you enjoy.

You should reach out to them and see if you can buy your old cue back for cheap, much like buying your wrecked car from the insurance company. If you're like me, you really didn't want to give up that old stick, even if it just sits in closet for years :)

I bought a Pechauer cue about two months ago and want to share my story, which reflects well on the company.

I attempted to purchase a Pechauer cue from an online dealer. They didn't actually have the cue that they were advertising and were not able to source one. I think it would be nice if they only advertised what they could deliver, but that's a complaint for another day. I'll leave their name out of it because after some back and forth they did refund my money.

I decided to purchase directly from the Pechauer website, as I should have done in the first place. Because the cue that I wanted is "retired," I reached out to see if they happen to have one (no harm asking, right?). They did not, but Joe corresponded with me directly and offered to build one. It would take a few months. I appreciated the offer but opted to purchase from their current line, as I liked another cue just as well. I placed an order and paid for shipping.

In addition to confirming the order, they gave me a shipping date (about two weeks later) and told me that the shipping would cost less than I had paid.

They shipped the cue ON THE DAY that they had promised, and they re-ran my credit card to reduce the shipping cost to the correct amount. If they had not told me what shipping would be, I never would have known and they could have easily kept a few extra dollars. My point: They clearly value honesty.

The cue, extra shaft, joint caps and case all arrived in perfect condition and it plays like a dream.

I have had only great dealings with the Pechauer company as well as their cues. I had the same experience with a shaft that had a problem with the joint threads. Sent it to them and they quickly informed me they would send me a new one with zero fuss. Being an extra shaft I asked to trade for a Black Ice shaft so I could use it on an existing JP butt I had. Again no problem, and after paying the difference and shipping I have a fantastic breaker. I went from just getting a nice cue to a collection of five Pechauers so far. Spending money hurts a lot less when the service is over and above like there's is.

that is why it is crazy stupid in my opinion to buy a cue from any dealer or custom maker that doesnt have a reputation for being totally honest and on time with good warranty. sight unseen buying needs to from people with a store or having a major presence.

and never ever pay other than a small deposit for anything that wont be delivered to you within the period of time you can cancel your credit card purchase with them.

I bought a 2003 Pro Series cue from ebay around 2008 and inquired about it to Pechauer. Scott replied fast and politely. My original shaft also has a tiny taper roll, never occurred to me they would do something about it after that long, so I recently purchased a Rogue shaft.

I was expecting to hear from you. lol
Hope you and Jin are well.
Thanks, we are doing good here..... Jin recently made the choice to stay with Pechauer after another company offered him a different sponsorship package. Glad he made the decision to stay with Pechauer.

Sponsored players are supposed to promote the brand, why not choose a company you can be proud of and with no issues promoting them to your own friends/family.
