Possible to change joint style on a Predator shaft?

I've got a Predator 314, series 1, with a brass insert made to fit a 5/16 x18 joint pin. I'm wondering if it's possible for a cuemaker to take out that insert and drill a larger hole to fit a 3/8 x10 pin or a radial pin.

If is IS possible, would the conversion cost more than buying a new 314? (About $200)

Thanks...

Sure, it can be done, but you won't be boring the hole to accommodate the 3/8 pin, you'd have to dowel it. You see, the outside diameter of the brass insert is 7/16 which is already bigger than the 3/8 that you want to get to. Another concern is that the dia. at the joint of a 5/16 x 18 Predator shaft is .835". Most 3/8 x10 shafts are near .850", at least Predators. Probably the best thing to do at this point is to measure the dia. at the joint of the handle you want to adapt this shaft to and get back to us.

I would think that the conversion would be under $50.

I have the phenolic dowels from Predator in stock to accomplish this.

Thanks for your replies. I won't be in the market to have this done for 2-3 months at least, but at least I know it's possible and less expensive than buying a new shaft. I'd hate to get rid of the shaft I've got just because I'm going to buy a cue that uses a different kind of joint. That shaft cost more than my cue!
