Notes about the tournament
If you are preparing to visit RI be clear of one thing hotels are always in short supply.
The attire is casual again this year; that means dress pants and a shirt with a collar. The sport is moving up in the world we all need to dress the part on an event day such as this that includes me. Those of you who know me also know I almost always where jeans and a T shirt.
Friday evening at 9 PM there will be event fee of $20 that will benefit the American Cancer Society. A dinner buffet will be available for $15 per person. Details will be available on this site soon. Other special matches will be played but they will be unannounced and informal.
On Saturday the tournament will start on time at 12 PM a Calcutta will be called at 1PM no call ins will be accepted for the Calcutta or entry. If you will be possibly late traveling be prepared and send a check that will arrive at my desk 6 business days in advance to assure your self a spot on the chart or bring cash.
We plan on closing the tournament at 64 players. The reason is that we want to have an event that is held in a controlled atmosphere. We want players to have minimal wait times in between sets an we want there to be enough room for spectators. This can only be accomplished by limiting the field. Please send a check that will arrive at my desk 6 business days in advance. This is the reason we are offering a discount to players that send money in advance.
All seating is limited and advance VIP seating can be purchased in advance for $20 per day per seat, by sending a check that will arrive at my desk 6 business days in advance. A layout of the playing area is available by email or fax if you request in advance. There are only about 40 VIP seats available all other seats will on a firs come firs serve basis.
Tournament play on Saturday will probably end around 10PM This will leave the top 16 or 12 players for a final on Sunday.
Sunday we will start a 12PM no seats will be held. The billiard room will open at 11am
