Practice without breaking the bank

Move !

I would move ! LOL Buy a house that will fit a table , get a nice used one. I know my $700 investment has long been paid for. There's nothing like hitting a few racks before you head out to play league :)

I've thought about this... my apartment is not large enough for a 9ft but I have thought about getting an 8ft with extra tight pockets. After re-arranging some furniture I think I could probably play without any major wall distractions. However, I'm guessing I'd use the table more for drills so would not need the room for EVERY shot. Do you use the table as much as you thought you would? My girlfriend thinks if I got my own table, I'd either hardly use it, or get bored with the game.

This sounds promising. I will check it out. Thanks!

I was going to suggest Braodway as well, it is probably the cheapest room, with some good tables and a variety of players from serious to casual. Also, Amsterdam offers some "Power Plays" that can help make it easier for the pocket...esp durring the weekdays.

I bought my table a little over a year ago and have spent hundreds of hours on it. If you are as interested as you say in improving your game, I think buying a table is one of the best things you can do. I've learned more practicing at home in the last year than I did in several years of playing at bars or poolhalls. Being able to practice anytime you want is invaluable when it comes to learning about the game. With the prices you are paying, I think a table would pay for itself in no time. Plus, you could always give lessons from your home for extra cash.
