Practicing/Focusing On One Shot

while i was playing last week i noticed i had missed pretty much the same shot a couple of times in a row. it was one of those "Routine" shots you expect to see in a game of 9-Ball, and one i have practiced alot.

however, even though i have practiced it alot, i dont think i ever practiced it like this before. i remembered someone on here saying "Amateurs practice a shot until they make it, and Pros practice a shot until they cant miss it"

so, instead of spending 10 minutes working on this shot, i decided to shoot the shot over and over. i used some of those white sticky reinforcements to mark the spot for the cue ball and object ball, and shot it for well over an hour. from both sides of the table. i have had this shot a few times since, and i havent missed yet.

do you posters think this is a good way to practice? i have about 40-50 shots diagrammed that i go through every now and then, and spend about 10 minutes on each shot. do you think it would be wiser to spend about an hour straight shooting nothing but the same shot when going through my list of shots instead of devoting 10 minutes to one shot and then moving on?

so far, i think that seems to be a better way, at least for me.

I don't know if that technique is good for you or not....but I am glad that you didn't complain about the roll of the table. I'd say that is the biggest change in your shot that I've "seen"---accepting responsibility for your efforts and long-term results.

Going to Peoria this year?,

Jeff,
hi, how are you doing?

doubt if i make it to Peoria this year, just not real enthused about much nowadays, including the WPBA. plus the Hampton is all sold out for that weekend, has been for months as i checked availability back around February. i am sure all the VIP tix are already sold as well.

always a slim chance i might jump in the vehicle sat. morning and drive over for sat afternoon/evening, and the sunday espn matches. but not likely.
