Predator 314-3 taper to 12.5

I posted this in cue reviews but I need some experts opinions. I went ahead and purchased the 314-3 after hitting with a friends cue that had this shaft. After some reading, I have found that many people are having the shaft turned down to a 12.5mm or something close to this in order to get a little more out of the shaft. My question is, once the tip and ferrule are turned down, how are people finishing the taper on the rest of the shaft? I was imagining a person wouldn't want to continue the 12.5 mm back 10-12 inches like a so called "pro taper". Instead, would a conical taper from the ferrule to about 8-10 inches back be the best way to keep it playing close to the same and get the benefits of the smaller tip diameter? Is there a different/best way to accomplish this or am I overly concerned about nothing" Thank you for the help

No one with any thoughts on the subject? I have read about it so I know it's being done, I just need to know how the shaft is being completed.

Once you've cut the shaft to your magic number what are you going to compare it to ?
Did you buy two ?
Even that comparison would be flawed because no two pcs of wood are exactly the same.

Why do you suppose the Predator engineers chose the numbers they did ?

Like anything else you would buy, once altered there is no returning it.
Let's talk re-sale value.
Which would you prefer to buy, a full size shaft or one that has been bastardized ?

It's your shaft, do what you like. I'm not telling you what to do with it either.
My purpose is to give you reason to think further about what you want to do.

Rick at Seyberts told me the shaft is covered by warranty down to 12.4mm from predator. I didn't buy another shaft for comparison, I just know what I like. Kind of like trying out a few of these 40.00 tips. After all is said and done, I'm playing a $1.50 Triangle. I chose 12.5 shaft just to be safe, yet I will do 12.4 if someone has the ability to get it right. The so called "magic number" is somewhere between the Z and the 314, a happy medium if you will. I don't know why Predator chose 12.75mm, maybe because the majority of players are used to playing with a 13mm cue and the size of the 314 isn't that noticeable of a change. It would seem that a smaller tip creates less deflection, as well as other factors, but I thought this would be something that should work. I'm no expert so Im Just looking for opinions and possibly some help. As far as resale, I'm not to concerned about losing money trying new things out. You gotta pay to play. I do appreciate you bringing up some new points though. Thank you
