Predator 314 FAT Shaft / Schuler

Hi everybody,

I currently play with a Schuler cue with a Schuler Pro shaft.
I'm thinking about changing my shaft for a 314² FAT but I don't know if they're good shafts or not.
The thing is, having one of these shafts for a Schuler cue is a bit more expensive and harder to get :)
Before making this choice, I'd like to know your feelings and thoughts. Didn't have the opportunity to try this shaft...

Could you help me to make my choice? Any advice?

Thanks.

I can't tell you how the Fat shaft is, I'd like to know that too.
I've got a few Schulers and I use a 314~2 with them. I've tried the OB 1 with it and I don't like it. The other shaft I'm thinking about is the new shaft MIke Lambros is making. It's called the Ultra shaft, I think. There was a post on it in the last week or so. Do a search. The guy that talked about it, said Lambros will make it for other cues. I don't know if he can do Schulers joint.
Contact Billiards warehouse, their selling them.

JE54, thanks for answering.
I saw that Billiards WareHouse was selling Predator shafts with Schuler joints. I live in France and it's a bit complicated to be in touch with them. The thing is that it will be expensive to buy these shafts because I don't live in the USA. I'll do a search about this new shaft.
If somebody can tell us how the FAT shaft is, we'd appreciate :)

I 've seen questions on the Fat shaft before and I might have even asked about them. Not sure. But it's so subjective, eveyone's got their own opinion and what feels right to them. One thing I do remember hearing or reading is that the Fat shaft has alittle more deflection then the 314~2.

I use a Predator 314^2. I like the way it plays. I tried the shaft shaft at Valley Forge. Not bad. The rep said it would have more deflection than the 314 or z. I decided not to make the switch.

I play with a Predator 5K2 cue with 314² FAT shaft (Moori M) for more than a year now and I love it. I switched from a normal 314² shaft to this one just because I wanted to try something new.
The FAT shaft plays totally different in comparison to the 314² shaft. It took a few hours to get used to it. It is a lot stiffer and has little more deflection. The only visible difference between the two shafts are the tip diameters of 13.2mm (FAT) and 12,75mm (314²). Even if both shafts have pro tapers and the difference of the tip diameters is minimal, the FAT shaft feels totally different. It's also a little bit heavier.
I don't really like to talk about the hit or the playing characteristics of the shaft because these are subjective impressions and may differ from one player to another. For me, the normal 314² shaft (Moori M) has a softer hit than the FAT shaft and is also more forgiving, maybe because it's not so stiff.

If you like a stiffer hitting shaft with low (not lowest) deflection, and don't mind a bit of a "dead" feeling, FAT is a good choice.

The FAT shaft will feel a bit "hollow" and will give you less spin than the normal 314.
