Anybody have a 5k cue to compare to one of the older predators in terms of playability? which do you like best and why?

If you use the same shaft, and they all use the same shaft, you won't find a difference in the playability. The only difference in the all the 1k series up to present 5k is the design. If you use a P2 design the playabilty is the same but you might feel a different hit because the butt is made differently. I used to hit with a 3k series . Now I use a scruggs with a 314 shaft. I have a 4k7 for sale. Very Fancy. Lots of ivory and mother of pearl. Mint Condition. Listed for $1145. I bought it from Predator a valley forge 3 years ago. I payed about $950, can't remeber exactly. I have the receipt somewhere. I willing to part with for $850 plus shipping.

5k3

I have a predator 5K3, I have been quite satisfied with it. Supposedly the butt is made using predator's C4 technology, and the butt is four pie shaped pieces of wood spliced together: http://www.predatorcues.com/predator_cues_c4_demo.html

It plays pretty great, I can't compare it to predators earlier cues the only other predator I've played with is the second series of their sneaky pete. The 5K3's hit feels much better than the sneaky pete, but I use the sneaky pete much more than 5K3... simply because I travel a lot and don't like traveling around with my better cues(the 5K3 and my Jacoby)

All in All, I find the 5K3 to be a great cue. But I've done a round about so to speak and switched back to my Jacoby. I don't know, I like the predator shafts(and the butt of the 5K3) but they just don't have the same character as my Jacoby. Plus after months of playing with a predator shaft, than trying to shoot with my Jacoby - I couldn't make a god damn ball. And that sort of pissed me off. Its like using Microsoft Windows for a cue, it makes my pool playing compatible with one name brand of cue! I may be willing to part with the 5K3 for the right price. If interested PM me, I purchased the cue from Nielsen billiards in June. Its a "First Edition," which I don't see why it matters that it was one of the first runs of cues made in the series when its a production cue. BTW, I give a thumbs up to Nielsen's Billiards in Springfield, IL(they also have an ebay store,) they're great people to work with.

As you can see in my signature I have a first generation Predator. One of my close friends and past teammates recently purchased a 5k7. There is a very noticeable difference. The hit feels more solid. The butt size is thinner than mine by a fair amount. I can feel the difference in the hit related to the changes they have made. I have hit at least 4 of the new series of cues and probably 20 of the older models including several SE models. The new line feels different without question. More solid.
