Predator Shaft: 314 vs Z

I'm getting the Predator 3K1 with the Moori Med. Tip. Only question is which shaft to opt for...

314 has a 12.75 (and yes I can grind it down but then it would be kind of whippy) while the Z has a much smaller (11.75 I believe) but it's not whippy because of its taper.

Anyways, for those who has one or the other, or has tried both, any opinions? Thanks a lot!

well i own a 314 wut it really comes down to is you preference..do you want a snooker shaft or one that is pro tapered

I thought the Zs were not out yet? Anyway, I have a 314 that's been turned down to 11.9 and i also own a schuler cue with that 11.75 mm taper. Both hit nicely - solid. I guess it boils down to what type of game you have or want to have. Shafts with that taper will not be as forgiving. Accuracy in aiming and position (as well as qb spin and control) can be developed if you have those tapers -- but it will be a challenge. So guess what --- Ive gone back to using a 12.5mm. American Taper. hehehehe.

When you sadit ehs ahft with that taper won't be as forgiving, what are you talking about? The Z or 314?

I was told by a friend that the Zs wont be released til next year. But you may want to check with Predator.

I think having a stiff shaft with 11.75mm (z, 314 or any other shaft) at the ferrule wont be as forgiving since you have to be more precise in your aiming and stroke delivery plus you have to be accurate regarding the spin that you will give to the qb. Again Predator Z made the first few inches of the shaft more flexible to reduce deflection.

Its really fantastic when you get the hang of it. Using such a taper will enable you to predict the ob path accurately as well as your qb speed/spin. Cheating the pocket will be a breeze. Of course your level of concentration needs to be high. Since I don't have the discipline and patience to really concentrate that well on my game, I went back to a 12.5mm.
