Afternoon.
My last cue post for today.
Predator Sneaky Pete model SP4RJL. I purchased this cue in late 2011 as my main tournament cue.
I found it on clearance at Seybert's for $339 if I remember correctly. I liked that it was fairly plain but had performance upgrades like the uni-loc joint and the Z2 shaft. Seybert's gave me the option of a 29" or a 30" Z2 shaft; I picked a 30". I do not remember if they were also offering the 314 as an option at that time. Anyways, Seybert's was kind enough to ship it to my overseas location. It is by far my favorite cue. I cannot find a single flaw on this cue, and the Z2 shaft is fantastic. Came from the factory with a Tiger Everest tip. Nicely balanced, good hit and feedback. It quickly became my go-to cue.
It's a handome cue with a nice rosewood and maple forearm, with sharp points and veneers that contrast well with the woods and wrap color. The Hoppe style buttcap is also a nice touch.
According to Predator, this model was introduced in 2006 but I am not 100% sure of when it was discontinued. I assume this one was made in China due to the joint, as it seems the consensus is that uni-loc joints appeared on Predator cues after their production moved to China, with Bear manufactured cues having a different joint type. Still, it a beautifully made cue that performs extremely well.
I am considering upgrading the Z2 to a Revo 11.8 carbon fiber shaft on this one, and pick the shaft I want to use as I like both LD wood and carbon fiber.
