Predator SouthWest shaft

I just finished and shipped another Predator SouthWest shaft that I built for a fellow AZ member. I love building these because I have a passion for SouthWest cues. The first pic is of the shaft that I built. The second pic is a copy of the pic that I was provided with to work from. Yes, I can build a perfectly matched shaft and I don't need the cue, just a usable pic.

Very fine craftsmanship, really! But this brings up an interesting question: doesn't this defeat the whole buying a a Southwest "hit" anyway?

Not to knock your talents, don't mistake me. The ringwork on that shaft looks incredible.

Out of curiosity, are you able to match the weight of the Predator shaft to the weight of the original SW shaft?

In answer to your question, the hit would have to be considered subjective. Given the difference btw. a one pc. shaft and a ten pie splice shaft I don't believe the hit could be accurately duplicated. But I believe the client is aware of this and this may not have been his objective or primary concern. He may simply have wanted low deflection in a shaft that matched his cue. Different people like different things.

What I can do is sift through Seybert's inventory until I find a partial that would make a suitable candidate. Tell me what wght. you're looking for as I'm sure that SW shafts do vary in wght.
