This may be nothing to some of you, but I rarely play the game so I have to brag a little. I've only played "billiards" about 5 times now, maybe 6, and I got my high run of 3 in a row today! It would have been 4 according to the guy I played today, but I missed my first ball by a hair...But he tells me that if I'd have hit the ball where I was aiming to, it would have been my 4th in a row. I'm told by one of the locals that plays the game regularly, that if I played the game more I could be good at it cause I "see" the shots very well...I just have to learn the proper ways to execute them. I myself am not sure if its true, but he swears I could be good at the game, so who am I to not believe the guy? I played the guy today that plays the game the best in our area and got my 3 billiard run on him...He was kinda impressed that I played how I do/did. We're supposed to play more later on, and I'm thinking he might actually help me by showing me some things I don't know. I'm impressed that the game is actually fun cause it looks boring at first. I'm sure I got alot of work to do playing the game to become good at it, but I'm having fun learning how to play the game. I haven't enjoyed playing any kind of pool game in a long time, but I'm finally getting to enjoy myself again. I just hope it remains this way. I actually like playing the game again!! :D

Hey, good on you! I love to play billiards but don't get the chance to very often as it is hard to find someone who will play. I've only played the game 6 or 7 times, but my high run is 4, and I'm sure it was a fluke, as other than that one run my other runs are all to 2, hehehe! :o Play on bro!

I know the feeling! I didn't play the game a whole lot, not a lot of Billiard players in Binghamton when I lived there. I ran 3 numerous times and missed the 4th by the thickness of a sheet of paper for several years.
The brother of one of the regulars used to come in and knock 'em around on Saturday afternoons and one day he ran 8!
When the Billiard tables first came in, I tried to get some pool players who played my speed to play some Straight Rail. The answer was often "That's too easy. Let's play three-cushion". My reponse was "Oh, yeah? Let's see ya run 10, after the balls get about 2 feet apart". No takers;)

I got the chance to play only a few times, but 3 cushion is as addicting as CRACK! :D I have never rooted harder for my cueball to hit the 2nd ball when I was on 4 going for 5, but I missed it going into the corner, then on the way back out again!!!!!AHHHHHHHHHH you no good F@#%##^ cueball:o

my friend I was playing with called the shot a drivebye when I missed it, which made me laugh. Honestly I have never been that pissed playing ANY other game. I think it's a good thing the rooms I play in don't have a billiards table.....

Three on a match table certainly isn't bad. I'm lucky that where I play there are several truly great 3-cushion players that practice a lot. There's one guy who in entertainment value at least is head and shoulders above the rest. His name is Jean Bessems, he was an Artistique World Champion back in the days.
He plays extremely fast, and extremely well. You watch him practice for ten minutes, you'll see two 5's for sure and that's on the big match tables. He doesn't play on the smaller ones. His average is around 1.2 at the moment.
