Problems with Joint pin

I could use some help on how to salvage an attempt to install a radial pin into a cue. I followed the directions of several cuemakers and practiced before attempting to install this pin. I did a few others in cues and the came out straight but this one is slightly off... It is a brass radial pin with an alignment barrel. 1) how should I remove it. 2) can I put a radial pin back in the cue?

Heat it with a torch until it gets hot enough for the glue to melt. You may have to plug the cue with a wood or phenolic plug and then drill, tap and bore to a snug fit for the shoulder. Should be in near perfect if you do this.

First you should drill with an undersize bitt - then Bore to size (the pin should slip in with no slop.

Sounds like you did not bore to size and the drill bit ran out some maybe.

Good cuemaking,

I step drill and bore EVERY hole to size. It may be more work but the precision is worth it. The long, smaller diameter solid carbide boring bar that I have was not cheap though.

Invest in a couple of PIN GAUGES, the are cheap and worth their weight in gold! You can "sneak up" on holes better, as they come in MANY different sizes. PLUS/ MINUS, tenths, thous. etc:)

IMO.

Thanks to all

To all,
I did step drill but I think i went just a little over on the boring. I really appreciate the help and i definitely think I forgot the most important step... Patiences, measure then more patience...
